Esplanade Furniture is a family-owned furniture store at 1750 Esplanade in Chico, California, in continuous operation since 1982 — making it the oldest furniture retailer in Chico, CA.
Esplanade Furniture began as a small unfinished furniture store in 1982. Much of the furniture we sold was manufactured by the owner, Dann Moser — many of you may know him as “Mr. Furniture”! With the North Valley’s increasing demand for quality, solid wood furniture, business quickly grew.
Although we no longer build custom furniture ourselves, we still offer American-made unfinished pieces that can be ordered in custom stains and paints through Whitewood Industries, one of the many manufacturers we work with.
Over the last 40+ years, we’ve grown into a full-service retailer, offering customizable sofas, recliners, mattresses, solid wood bedroom furniture, dining tables, TV cabinets, and so much more. When you’re ready to bring your favorite pieces home, everything is available for pickup or delivery through our professional white-glove delivery service.
We’re proud to be known as the number one locally-owned source for high-quality furniture in Chico, and we’re thankful to our community for letting us serve you for many more years to come.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is your return policy?+
We offer a 10-day return policy on all non-clearance items bought off our showroom floor. Within those 10 days, we'll offer a full refund as long as the item is in new condition. All special orders are considered final sale.
Do you offer custom orders?+
Yes — many of our upholstery brands let you choose your own fabric or leather, frame style, and configuration. Ask a sales associate in-store to walk through your options.
Where can I find furniture care & warranty information?+
We keep manufacturer warranty and care documents on file for our major brands (Diamond Mattress, IMG Comfort, Omnia Leather, Rowe/Robin Bruce, Simply Amish, Whitewood/John Thomas, Whittier Wood, and more). If you need to file a warranty claim, please call us directly at (530) 891-4788 and we'll take care of you.
Can I bring styrofoam in for recycling?+
As of February 2025, we can no longer accept styrofoam for recycling due to California state law.
Where are the dogs?!+
Birdie pops in from time to time! Our founder Dann is "semi-retired" but still stops by the store with Birdie several times a week — you may get lucky and see them if you pay us a visit.
